Dipping the Bee-Eaters

Early this morning the 1st winter Ross`s Gull and the 1st winter Little Gull were showing together on Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham , later news came out of a European Bee-Eater being seen near Axmouth in East Devon and I was lucky enough to get a lift to see it ( Thanks Bob ) and we were nearly at the site when we heard that not one but five birds were now showing , but by the time that we got there they had flown off !!! and after searching for them for a couple of hours with no joy and only seeing a pair of Yellowhammer`s we had to give up on this extreme rarity for Devon ..... Will I ever get one !!!
