A trip over to the other side of the River Exe today in hope of seeing a Glossy Ibis that has been around for a few days now . And I managed to see it but only at a very long distance as it always is at Powderham Marsh .
Good back up birds included 5 Ruff , 3 Wood Sandpiper , a Green Sandpiper , 8 Common Ringed Plover , 4 Little Ringed Plover and 6 Pied Wagtail .
A couple of Red Knot were nice to see today on Bowling Green Marsh . Also seen was another juvenile Curlew Sandpiper , 2 Green Sandpiper , Common Sandpiper , 20+ Dunlin , numerous Common Redshank , a Spotted Redshank and 100-200 Eurasian Curlew .
Away from the waders there was Stock Dove , Common Chiffchaff and Common Raven .
Well today I had to go back into hospital for my cancer check-up and the news was good and I am in remission . But when I was in there news broke of a Eurasian Wryneck at Turf Locks and I thought bloody hell I have missed that one as news had come out that it had flown off .
But I decided to go over to the marshes just in case it was found again . And that turned out to be a good move as that is exactly what happened ! And even tho I ended up getting soaked to the skin , I got great views of the bird in the pouring rain 💧💧💧💧💧💧

My look at Bowling Green Marsh today got me my 1st Curlew Sandpiper of the year with this juvenile bird . Also seen were Green Sandpiper . Common Sandpiper , Red Knot and Spotted Redshank and numerous Dunlin .
I then had a look around Orcombe Point at Exmouth but all I saw were 2 Yellow Wagtail , Common Skylark , Common Raven and a large flock of European Goldfinch .
A morning look at Bowling Green Marsh got a large count of over 30 Little Egret , a Large flock of Eurasian Curlew , numerous Black-Tailed Godwit , 2 Green Sandpiper , a Common Sandpiper , 2 Common Snipe and 2 Stock Dove . Very hard to bird the marsh at the moment as the hide is closed . So you only have small lookouts looking out into the harsh morning light....But I will keep on looking 👀
A dash down to Black Hole Marsh near Seaton this morning as news came out of a Marsh Sandpiper that was on show . I arrived to be told that the bird had not been seen for around half an hour . So I took a look around at the other birds.That included 2 Little Stint , Wood Sandpiper , Green Sandpiper , Common Sandpiper , Dunlin , Ringed Plover , Spotted Redshank , Common Greenshank , Water Rail and a fly over Osprey .
Then the Marsh Sandpiper came out into view that pleased everyone that was looking for it . I think this is only my second one in my home county of Devon so I was well chuffed😀
Also seen was a Wasp Spider the 1st one that I have seen for many years !
Not a to report but the bird of the day was a Black Tern that settled briefly on Bull Hill along with numerous Common Tern & Sandwich Tern . But then the mass of Terns took to the air and flew towards Dawlish Warren and then after searching for it for quite a while I never saw it again .
Also seen were 6 Mediterranean Gull and further up the estuary there was an Osprey near Lympstone & then I had a quick look at Bowling Green Marsh were a European Spoonbill showed well .
I took a trip down to Exmouth to look for some reported Terns . And I found them on Bull Hill out in the Exe Estuary in a large flock of 60+ Common Tern and numerous Sandwich Tern , but they always stayed very distant . Also seen was this 1st year European Shag and further up the Estuary there was an Osprey sat on a yellow marker post .
This White Stork was on one of the lampposts at Matford Nr Exeter this morning . It has a yellow ring so it is one from a release scheme .
This 5cy Yellow-Legged Gull showed well on the Ruby Ground at Exmouth in Devon this morning along with numerous Herring Gull and a few Great Black-Backed Gulls .
Then a quick look at Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham got me 10 Little Egret and 2 Bar-Tailed Godwit .
Red Kite was the bird of the day as I had one go over my house in Topsham this morning along with a Common Raven .
I then had a look around local areas and had this Common Buzzard near Kenton and then had 2 Green Sandpipers on Powderham Marsh .
This morning this White Stork was showing on the Clyst Marshes viewed from the hide at Darts Farm . Also seen was a Holly Blue Butterfly .
Later in the day I shot down to Bowling Green Marsh to catch up with this Glossy Ibis , my first in Devon this year . Also seen was a Green Sandpiper and a Stock Dove .
