Distant Shots !

A trip up to Somerset today with my mate Ken Montandon . And our first stop was at Meare Heath where we saw the bird that we had come for a juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper that was showing along with a juvenile Ruff , we got nice views of them from the hide but they were always a bit distant . We then walked a bit further on to Noah`s Lake where we saw the Osprey for a short spell but it was soon lost from view .
Our next stop was at the Ham Wall RSPB Reserve and again the birding was good as we saw 4 Little Egret , 3 Great White Egret , a Glossy Ibis , a female Western Marsh Harrier , a European Green Woodpecker and wherever we went we heard the call of the superb little Cetti`s Warbler .
Our last stop of the day was at Aller Moor and we saw what we had come for , the Common Crane and in the end we managed to see 13 of them and a nice end to the day was 6 Yellow Wagtail that were in with the cows .
