Dipped Again

This morning I took a trip down to Dawlish Warren in hope of seeing a Eurasian Wryneck that has been seen there for a few days . But there was no sign of it today and all that I saw worth talking about was a Cirl Bunting .

On the way down to the Warren I saw a Great White Egret on Powderham Marsh and this Osprey on the Powderham Estate that has been feeding up before its journey South .

Purple Heron

This morning I made the effort of going over to the Exminster Marshes in hope of seeing the long staying juvenile Purple Heron . And it was worth it as I managed to see the bird in flight 3 times but could only manage to get this long distance shot of it .

There was not a lot else seen with only a Common Kestrel , Sedge Warbler and Common Chiffchaff .

Spotted Crake

News came out early today of a Spotted Crake on the discovery pool on the Exminster Marshes so I went over to look for it , I got to the spot where it was seen by the viewing screen and was surprised that I was the only one there . I started to look around and saw 2 Garganey , 3 Wood Sandpiper , 2 Green Sandpiper , 2 Common Snipe .                                                                                                                                        Then the Spotted Crake flew out from right under the viewing screen and flew a short distance and then vanished into the thick vegetation by the wire fence . So I only managed to get a very quick view of it .
