An early start this morning at the Orcombe Point area in Exmouth was a good moves as I found a flock of 20+ Yellow Wagtail . The birds were quite flighty but still a great sight to see !
I also saw 7 Northern Wagtail , a male Peregrine Falcon , 2 Common Whitethroat and 3 Common Linnet .
Not much in quantity but a lot of quality .
A morning look at the Exminster Marshes turned out to be very good with the following birds seen . Great White Egret , 4 Little Egret , an adult and a juvenile Eurasian Spoonbill & Grey Heron all together on the same pool , a female Western Marsh Harrier , a Eurasian Hobby , Wood Sandpiper , Green Sandpiper , 2 Common Snipe , 6 Common Ringed Plover and 7 fly over Northern Pintail .
A morning look a Bowling Green Marsh today to check out the waders . And with a lot of the grass around the edge now cut it is a lot better . And I picked out 2 Ruff , Numerous Black-Tailed Godwit & Common Redshank , 10 Common Greenshank , 2 Dunlin , numerous Eurasian Curlew , 3 Whimbrel and the bird of the day a juvenile Curlew Sandpiper .
Also seen were quite a few new in Eurasian Wigeon , a female Northern Pintail , 2 Little Grebe , a juvenile Mediterranean Gull and 2 Stock Dove .
I took a look at the Exminster Marshes this morning where there was a Great White Egret that showing on the same lagoon as one was earlier in the year . It could be the same bird but it has not been seen for quite a while so you cant rule out it being a new one . I managed this shot of it but it was always distant plus I am not using my normal lens as it is off being mended and this one I can only use it manual .
Also seen were 3 Little Egret , 20+ Barn Swallow , 2 Common House Martin , a Blackcap and the Common Starling flock is starting to build up . And out on the Exe Estuary there was an Osprey and a couple of Sandwich Tern .
Todays highlight was a Eurasian Treecreeper in my garden early morning and it was only my second ever in the garden .
Later in the morning I went for a look at Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham where I saw 4 Little Egret , a Grey Heron , a Little Grebe , numerous Common Redshank , 12 Common Greenshank , numerous Black-Tailed Godwit , a single Bar-Tailed Godwit , numerous Eurasian Curlew , 20+ Whimbrel , an adult Ruff and a Lesser-Black-Backed Gull .
I went down to Exmouth to do some birding this morning and a quick sea watch got me 50+ Northern Gannet , 12 Sandwich Tern , 2 Common Tern and a Harbour Porpoise .
Then a look around the Gore Lane area got me my 1st Northern Wheatear of the the autumn and 20+ Barn Swallow .
