Serin

Early this morning at 7.15 I heard a Serin singing in the Topsham Cemetery ! I was pretty sure thats what it was but to make sure I went indoors & listend to the call on a cd to comfirm it & when I went back outside it was still singing , it had just started to rain but I got my camera & went into the cemetery to look for it I looked for it for quite a while but it wasn`t singing now & there was no sign of it anywhere , perhaps it moved on with the rain !!!!
I then had a look at Bowling Green Marsh where I saw the Bonaparte`s Gull & 2 Little Gull`s , onwards then to Exmouth where a seawatch got me 3 Roseate Tern , 10 Sandwich Tern , 6 Common Tern & numerous Gannet , the last stop was at Mudbank Lane in Exmouth & a look at the Exe Estuary got me 5 Scaup 1 male & 4 female also seen was this Little Egret , a good days birding !

Out for a look around Steps Bridge today to look for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker & I was in luck & got one plus 2 Spotted Flycatcher`s , also seen wer 2 Grey Wagtail`s , a Dipper , a Jay , numerous Blackcap & 11 Brimstone Butterflies .

A look at lower Haldon this morning got me a Turtle Dove , a Tree Pipit & a Willow Warbler but a good surprise was a churring Nightjar .

Bonaparte`s Gull Again

This evening the Bonaparte`s Gull was on the River Exe off of the Topsham Recreation Ground , a very nice looking bird !

The Bonaparte`s Gull was on the Exe Estuary off of the Marine Camp this morning around 8.30 viewed from Exton Station !

Yarner Wood

A trip out to Yarner Wood on the edge of Dartmoor today to look for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker but none was seen ! but I did see my first Wood Warbler of the year & a bit further on was my first Pied Flycatcher`s of the year with a few male & female seen & a look up on the common got me a Tree Pipit , also seen were the following Butterflies , Orange Tip , Holly Blue , Brimstone & Small White .
We then went out to Dartmoor & saw numerous Wheatear , a Hobby , 2 male & a female Whinchat & a Cuckoo was heard calling .
